Parkland Estates
In 1906, Canadian Allen Simms moved to Tampa, where he worked for Tampa Bay Land Co and sold lots in Palma Ceia Park and Suburb Beautiful. Two years later he hung his own shingle, Simms Realty Co. In 1917, Simms left Tampa to fight with the Royal Canadian Dragoons during the war but returned afterward to launch his career as a developer. He created New Suburb Beautiful and Parkland Estates, the latter of which still features the original entryway along with the street that bears his name, Simms Blvd. In his prolific career, Simms built over a thousand homes in South Tampa, and also developed the historic Floridan Palace.
